TRIED AND TESTED: Sophie’s Fitness rooftop yoga

August 26, 2016 by HelloFitty 2 Comments

Sophie Dear is a yoga teacher, food and fitness blogger and health and happiness warrior! She teaches dynamic vinyasa flow yoga, synchronising movement with breath to build strength, flexibility and balance. Healthy Living London’s Lucy and Rosie were invited to her early morning rooftop yoga class overlooking St Pauls to experience the benefits of outdoor yoga.

Rooftop yoga

You couldn’t really choose a better rooftop spot in London to practise yoga. Overlooking St Pauls and watching the city of London wake up beneath us in glorious sunshine was a magical way to start the day.

As a relatively new yogi, some yoga classes can feel intimidating due to my somewhat limited flexibility and others ability to bend in ways I didn’t think was possible! However, Sophie’s class was welcoming to beginners and she gave clear instructions providing easier and harder options for a variety of poses. She also moved around the class correcting positions and helping people to achieve a deeper, more effective stretch.

For those of you who don’t know (I didn’t know until I googled it!), Vinyasa flow yoga is a style of yoga where the poses run together at a relatively quick pace. This is perfect for me as I often find myself feeling sleepy and un-energised in some of the slower style yoga classes. The energetic style of the class combined with Sophie’s enthusiasm and encouragement kept me alert and awake and I arrived at work feeling invigorated and full of energy, despite the 5:30 alarm clock earlier in the morning!

“I want to make people feel happy about their bodies and calmer in their minds. I hope to be a support and inspiration as others have been for me”. Sophie Dear
