100 Wardour Street launches a new healthy breakfast menu

August 11, 2017 by Rosie Flynn Leave a Comment

London has its fair share of places to go for healthy breakfast options and people, (myself included) now expect to have at least some range of choices that aren’t the fried or the (bad) fatty kind. 100 Wardour Street has launched a new menu, which caters for a variety of tastes and preferences.

The homemade granola with the creamiest vegan yoghurt!

After a mind and body-stretching DeRose Method session at The Ady Centre, we decided to refuel a short walk away, ideally with something healthy. At 100 Wardour, the breakfast menu is split into 5 different categories – 1. Grains, Nuts, Seeds – from which you can choose staples like homemade granola, the more trendy 2. Frozen Acai Bowls, 3. Eggs – which offer the usual favourites as well as other more adventurous options, 4. Savoury pancakes with savoury options, and 5. Sweet. With the exception of the ‘Sweets’ section, most of the options do appear to be moderately ‘healthy’.

As my diet is plant-based, I had to modify my choice slightly to take out and put in some variables. I opted for avocado on toast (original, I know) and added mushrooms as an extra side. This was done with seemingly no trouble, so if there are any ingredients you’re not keen on or are allergic to, adaptations can be made. It

My sister and I also shared the Homemade Granola with soya yoghurt. It was recommended adamantly to us by our waiter who described it as ‘light, but satisfying.’ The soya yoghurt tasted so much like Greek yoghurt, (thick and creamy) that we had to get the waiter to double-check with the chef that it was definitely soya. (It was!) She also had the quinoa bowl which I assume went down a treat as it didn’t last long. Unable to decide on drinks, we also took the waiter’s recommendation on the smoothies and much enjoyed the Riding Hood (it reminded us of a berry colada) and the Caffeine Hit (great for those who like bananas). These disappeared in a matter of minutes and had we been somewhere private, we would have totally stuck our fingers in to scrape all of it out.

As well as an expectation of decent breakfast choices, Londoners also frequently seek a photogenic venue. Under a conservatory with greenery and minimal decor, you can eat peacefully with natural lighting, even in typical UK weather. There were plenty of people with Mac Books and reading material, meaning this place is appropriate for work and leisure.
