TRIED & TESTED: Another Space Yoga

March 14, 2018 by Bethan Taylor Leave a Comment

Another Space is seriously cool. It’s got the calm simplicity of a fitness boutique that really knows what it’s doing, offering just three classes – Cycle, HIIT and Yoga – and making sure it does those classes really, really well at it’s two studios in Covent Garden and Bank. Which is what you’d expect from the no-contract, no-joining fee sister to lux gym chain The Third Space.

Another Space review

I headed to the Covent Garden Studio on an icy Tuesday evening to warm up with a little yoga (while conveniently covering off the strength and mobility homework my coach had set me) and from the moment I stepped in the huge reception area I felt at ease. It’s hard not to, between the helpful reception staff and the fact that pretty much everything you’d ever need is supplied (just bring yourself and your PE kit) everything is set up so that you don’t have to worry, and can focus on your workout!

The calm continued in the yoga studio, a cosy space with dim lighting that’s like walking into a warm hug. It’s not so hot that you’ll leave dripping in sweat, but rather that lovely type of warm that relaxes you and helps ease up muscles frozen by a cold snap.

Yoga at Another Space combines powerful breath with powerful movements. Our teacher, Mark Laws II, took us through a challenging dynamic flow which got my heart rate up and my body moving. I loved how welcoming and kind Mark was, he made it clear that we were each in charge of our own practice, and that we were to listen to our bodies, going with what felt intuitive. I love freedom in a yoga class, so this was perfect! Moving through the class I felt my mind clear as my body unravelled. It was exactly what I needed.

I loved my experience at Another Space, and I’ll definitely be heading back to try the other classes. My only regret is that I didn’t pre-order a smoothie, the Bounty sounds ace!
