4 Essential Juice Recipes

August 7, 2014 by Eliza Flynn 1 Comment

Derry, a PT and nutritionist from Temple Training, in conjunction with Currys #currysintrojuicing , has kindly given permission to share his essential juice recipes following on from a bloggers event in which Eliza Flynn got sweaty and experimented with juicing. You can read her review here.

Classic Greens

Ingredients

4 Carrots
3 stalks of celery
1 handful of parsley
1 handful of spinach

Method
  1. Ensure all ingredients are washed thoroughly before placing in juicer.
  2. Mix juice well and serve immediately with a stick of celery as a garnish.

WE SAY: You’re covering lots of bases with this juice. Parsley is practically a superfood with its rich source of vitamin K and vitamin C and anti-oxidant nutrients, celery is a great anti-inflammatory, spinach is a good source of dietary potassium and protein and carrots amongst many benefits, can lower the risk of heart disease.

The Derry Berry mix sounds great. I would definitely opt for that (with a soya yogurt alternative) especially as we’re in berry season. However I really wouldn’t worry about the sugar levels in that smoothie. All the berries mentioned are low GI foods on the glycemic index. The fiber if fruit enables it to not be broken down so quickly by the liver and turned into fat, refined sugar is bad but natural sugars are all good. Eat in abundance 🙂
